Matteo Emery was born in Lugano in 1955. He studied graphics (CSIA-Lugano) and arts at the Graduate School of Visual Arts (ESAV-Geneva).
He obtained several federal scholarships for arts and Kiefer- Hablitzel subsidies. He has made several solo and group exhibitions in Switzerland and abroad. Lives and works in Arosio, Switzerland. Mainly his bi- and three-dimensional works are made with organic and inorganic recovered materials, related to the artist, to his body and his experience. His complex works suggest a journey into the body through extreme ontological and existential themes, such as birth-death-mutations, stages of a journey, deconstruction of the Way of the Cross, which marks the evolution of human life, the same plane of immanence. “I’m fascinated by the thin thread that connects the visible to the invisible. Who am I and what I do on this earth, I breath and think … perhaps to exorcise the moment when it all ends. “
